Read the complete summons
Keep every page and the envelope or original electronic message. Identify who issued it, where you must attend, the stated date and any reference number. Tell the lawyer if you received only a telephone call or an incomplete copy.
Clarify your role
Do not infer your procedural role from the title of the document alone. Show the actual wording to the lawyer and explain any previous contact with the police or prosecutor. Your role and the circumstances affect the preparation needed.
Prepare a factual chronology
Write down the events you remember, separating exact dates from estimates. Preserve relevant messages and records in their original form. List questions and missing information rather than trying to fill gaps with assumptions.
Arrange the review in time
State the appearance date when contacting the firm. Ask what the engagement will cover and whether attendance or representation has been agreed. Sending an online enquiry alone does not change an official appointment or confirm representation.
